“Understanding your Local Healthcare System”
To begin our series on Health Care for our October meetings in both Milton and Burlington we are pleased to present Mr. Dave Fasano. Dave will describe how your local healthcare system (the Mississauga / Halton LHIN) is organized and administered and, most importantly, how it impacts you.
Dave is a graduate from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Physical Education and has worked for over 30 years advocating new concepts in medical practice. Dave is a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) to the Minister of Health and Long Term Care for Ontario. He is also a member of the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) PFAC and co-chairs the Runnymede Healthcare Center’s PFAC.
Dave is the primary caregiver to his wife who suffered an anoxic brain injury several years ago. Dave’s experience with chronic complex care, acute care, and repeated transitions in care have served as invaluable insights into the patient/caregiver experience across the healthcare system.
As the founding Chairperson for the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, Dave’s passion for improving healthcare spans many decades. Dave’s extensive professional work with the healthcare industry has allowed him to witness important aspects of patient care first hand, across various geographic areas of Ontario and nationally.
Dave is from Georgetown, Ontario.
