C.A.R.P. will be hosting a live webinar with representatives of the Ontario Association of Optometrists on Monday, May 31 at 2 PM Eastern Time
Optometrists have had no success in dealing with the provincial government on recovering their out of pocket costs related to OHIP billings and have set a Sept 1st deadline to have a new deal in place, otherwise they will no longer be offering services to seniors, children and others who currently qualify for OHIP-billed exams and procedures.
C.A.R.P. is calling for the provincial government to address the concerns of the OAO and ensure that services continue after Sept 1, with a fair, negotiated, new deal with Optometrists.
Similar to the arguments made by Pharmacists in expanding their scope of practice, there are efficiencies to be found in the health care system by allowing Optometrists to play a larger role in Ontarians eye health. This starts with covering the full cost of preventative testing.
You can learn more about their calls to action here: https://saveeyecare.ca/
But please join us to hear from the President of the OAO, Dr. Sheldon Salaba and Dr. Stan Woo, the Director of Education at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, on Monday May 31st at 2 PM.
You are invited to a Zoom webinar.
