As you already know, this flu season is unlike any we have faced before. With the threat of the coronavirus still looming over older people both in and out of congregate care settings, experts are warning that seasonal influenza could make the serious health outcomes of COVID-19 even worse. Given what we know about the virus’s impact on our demographic, this is obviously cause for major concern.
In addition to this, the recommended high-dose flu shot for people 65+ is in short supply.
Given the heightened risk presented by the flu season this year, we encourage our members to talk to their doctor or pharmacist about the flu shot, and to not hold off on getting the regular shot in hopes of getting the high-dose vaccine.
This isn’t a normal flu season.
Experts say it’s more important than ever to get your flu shot, as catching seasonal influenza could make you more vulnerable to serious complications from COVID-19.
Can’t get the recommended high-dose flu shot for people over 65? The regular dose is still highly effective.
If you have not already done so talk to your doctor or pharmacist today about getting vaccinated today!
