Federal & Ontario Disability Tax Credit (2017 Income Tax)

The following information is made available by the Burlington Age Friendly Council

You are eligible for the disability only if a qualified medical practitioner certifies on form T2201 that you have a prolonged impairment and that the effects are such that any one of the following applies:

You are markedly restricted in any one of the following:

  • Speaking
  • Hearing
  • Vision
  • Walking
  • Eating
  • Dressing
  • Elimination (bowel or bladder functions) or
  • Performing the mental functions necessary for everyday life.

This is a tax credit (not refundable but a credit) of $1627 for 2017. If the person applying has no taxable income, the credit can be transferred to another relative who provides support.
