Halton Accessibility Repair Program 2018 (HARP)

Financial assistance for homeowners to improve Independent Living and Aging in Place…

Partner agencies may have clients (regardless of age) who could benefit from this program. HARP 2018 provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners for modifications needed to increase accessibility and improve conditions for independent living.

Who qualifies?
 You may be eligible for HARP funding if:
 You are the sole owner(s) of the home in which you live.
 You have not already started home modifications.
 All members of your household have legal status in Canada.
 Your total household income is $92,200 or less.
 The value of your property is $834,839 or less (as per MPAC or certified appraisal)
 Your property tax, mortgage payments and home insurance (for the full value of the property) are all paid up to date.

How is the assistance provided?
HARP 2018 has limited funding that is available on a first-come-first served basis through a dedicated application process. HARP may award a grant of up to $5,000 for eligible home modifications. A forgivable loan of up to $10,000 may be provided (in addition to the $5,000 grant). The forgivable loan is interest-free and does not require monthly payments. It is forgiven after ten years (10% each year).

Outstanding loan amounts must be repaid if the house is:
 Sold
 Rented
 Transferred
 If the applicant ceases to occupy the property as the principal residence during the loan forgiveness period.

How to apply?
 Please call 311 for more information or to have your name added to the Expression of Interest List. If contacted, you will receive an application form. Once the completed form is received, HARP will follow-up to ensure eligible home modification projects begin as soon as possible.
