First of all ‘Happy Spring’ – a time of warmer temperatures, steadily longer hours of daylight, opening blooms in our gardens and a time for renewal and engagement in our communities as we emerge from a difficult winter. March is a month of numerous noteworthy days of recognition and celebration and EAPO would like to share just a few thoughts around each.
Fraud Prevention Month, in Canada, draws attention to the consequences of frauds and scams targeting older Canadians, impacting their financial wellbeing. Seniors, caregivers, and those working with older adults are encouraged, to become informed about the latest tactics, so that together we can help stop these fraudsters cold. One way to learn more is to view our recent Fraud Prevention webinars, hosted in collaboration with community partners where we focus on preventative measures to take and avoid victimization, loss of assets or unauthorized use of personal information.
This month we honour the dedication of Social Workers during National Social Work Month, working tirelessly to advocate for and support individuals and communities in need. We are grateful for their compassion and commitment, to making profound differences in the lives of so many entrusted to their care.
March is also Women’s Month – a time to celebrate the achievements, strength and contributions of women around the world. Women continue to lead, inspire and break barriers in every field – they are the changemakers in community, creating spaces where equity, inclusion and innovation can thrive to reshape the world that we want to live in. There really is strength in every one of their stories!
Finally, EAPO is pleased to be sharing our ‘Communique’ for the upcoming Federal Election set for April 28th, 2025. Remember to mark the date, be informed about each of the party platforms and what they stand for and then PLEASE go VOTE!
