For this meeting we will be hosting a panel discussion on “Housing Options for Seniors”
As we age many of us will be faced with the somewhat daunting prospect of having to move. When faced with this challenge the first things we need to think about are what options do we have? Our Chapter president Tom Carrothers will lead the discussion and we have invited panellists with a wide range of expertise Through this discussion we hope to provide insight on what needs to be considered and what options are out there. Our panellists include:
Daryl Kator from Halton Region. Daryl will explain the housing support options that are available through Halton Region.
Garth Brown, who for many years has been in the home renovation business, will discuss renovations that should be considered in order to make it easier to stay in your current home.
Tara McEwen from Home Share Alliance. Home Sharing is a relatively new concept that is gradually increasing in popularity. Tara will explain the Home Share concept and how her organization works with clients to ensure home sharing is right for them, matches them with the right housemate and then guides them throughout the process.
Kim Routledge from Chartwell Retirement Living. Kim will discuss the benefits of living in a retirement residence.
