“Being Empowered When Navigating Significant Life Transitions”
CARP Halton Chapter will be holding two community meetings in April, one in Halton North on Tuesday April 9th and one in Halton South on Thursday April 25th. Our Halton North meeting will be held at the Birkdale Retirement Living Residence at 611 Farmstead Drive (Derry and Farmstead) in Milton. Our Halton South meeting will be held at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street, Burlington. At our April meetings we have invited Michelle Cassidy who is the Manager of Supportive and Community Care at Carpenter Hospice to talk about “Being Empowered When Navigating Significant Life Transitions”
Michelle describes her presentation as follows:
We are facing unprecedented times with many of us navigating significant life transitions. Changes in our health, family, and societal stressors can impact us in ways we may not even recognize. While many changes are out of our control, being empowered to care for ourselves and take tangible actions for our wellbeing can improve our quality of life. Join us for this session where we learn a little more about the brain/body connection and consider actionable ways we can attend to our mental health and wellbeing. Learn more about brain health and what we can expect as a natural part of aging and when seeking help might be important.
There will also be time for Michelle to answer any questions you may have.
Michelle is a Registered Social Worker with a passion for making mental health concepts accessible. Much of her career has been within the child and youth mental health sector, more recently transitioning into healthcare, just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the pandemic Michelle supported healthcare staff to consider the impact of caregiving and integrate small daily habits to promote mental health and improve people’s capacity to cope, particularly amidst unrelenting stress. Now working in end-of-life care at Carpenter Hospice, Michelle feels privileged to walk alongside families as they navigate life changing diagnoses, the impact of caregiving for a loved one, and loss
