CARP Halton Chapter Evening Community Meetings in May 2025

“Plan for the Future With Confidence”

Please join CARP Halton Chapter at our evening community meetings in May for an Informative Session on Estate Planning.

As usual we will be holding two evening meetings, one in Halton North on Tuesday May 13th and one in Halton South on Thursday May 22nd.

At these meetings we will be pleased to welcome Barbara Frederikse and Adeola Obisesan from Fieldstone Law in Burlington who will explain the intricacies of Estate Planning so that you can “Plan for the Future With Confidence”

In this informative presentation our speakers will guide you through the essentials of estate planning. You will learn about Wills, Powers of Attorney, Executor Rights, and Estate Administration.

Estate planning is essential for seniors to ensure your wishes are honored, your assets are distributed as intended, and your loved ones are protected. It also helps avoid many potential pitfalls, such as disputes among heirs, unnecessary taxes, or legal complications, providing peace of mind and clarity for the future.

An estate plan should be kept up to date to reflect any changes in personal circumstances, such as family dynamics, health, or financial situations. Laws and regulations surrounding estates can also change, and an updated plan ensures compliance and avoids unexpected complications. Staying current helps ensure that the plan aligns with your wishes and provides the intended benefits for your loved ones.

Our Halton North meeting will be held in Milton on Tuesday May 13th at the Birkdale Retirement Living Residence at 611 Farmstead Drive, (Derry and Farmstead).

Our Halton South meeting will be held in Burlington on Thursday May 22nd at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street.

Doors will open at both locations at 6.30pm, the program will start at 7.00pm and will wrap up around 8.45pm

At the Milton location most visitors will be able to park in the visitor parking areas on site. Additional street parking is also available nearby on Farmstead.

Light refreshments, coffee, tea and treats, will be available at both meetings. At Milton refreshments will be provided by the Birkdale Retirement Residence. We thank the management and staff for their generosity.

Our meetings will begin with a short welcoming address and a brief update on your CARP Halton Chapter activities. This will be followed by our featured presentation.

There will be a break at the midway point which will allow time to socialize with fellow members and to visit our sponsors.

Since we must allow staff time to close up after our meetings have ended we must plan to be out of our meeting spaces by 9.00pm. Our meetings will therefore conclude around 8.45pm with a few closing remarks and our 50/50 draw. We encourage you to support this draw as proceeds help defray the costs incurred in putting on our meetings.

Our meetings are FREE. All are welcome. Please plan to join us at either location. We look forward to your support of our Community Meetings as we believe the topics that we present are be of vital importance to our seniors demographic. We look forward to meeting our members and friends.
