Behaviours in Dementia Tool Kit

Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health

This week’s dementia focus is on Lewy Body Dementia (LBD).

LBD is a brain disease caused by abnormal protein deposits inside nerve cells that gets worse over time. People with LBD usually have thinking problems, trouble moving, visual hallucinations and sudden changes in the way they behave.

We can support a person living with Lewy body dementia to maintain a sense of wellbeing by understanding their personality, life experiences and ways of coping.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma and show support to individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Together, let’s spread knowledge, understanding and compassion.
