The number of people needing to access Food Banks in our area is increasing at an alarming rate. This includes an alarming number of seniors as well as families and single parents. All age groups from young children to grandparents are affected. Many, many people are having to make choices between adequate housing, sufficient food, taking medications etc. These should not be choices people in our country, our province or our towns and cities should have to make.
We are calling on our C.A.R.P. members and friends and neighbours to do everything they can to help ensure everyone has enough to eat.
First you can make a donation to a food bank either donating food items or a monetary donation that allows the food bank to purchase food more efficiently than we can by ourselves.
You can become a volunteer at a food bank. Food banks can always use more hands.
You could organize a food drive in your neighbourhood or with any group you may be involved in. If you do this we will help promote it as will the food bank you are holding it for.
If you are aware of those who could make use of a food bank talk to them and show them where they could go.
