Halton Chapter invites you to join us at our evening community meetings in May. As usual we will be holding a meeting in Halton North and Halton South. Our meetings are FREE to attend. Although we encourage CARP membership everyone is welcome to join us at either or both locations.
Our Halton North community meeting will be held on Tuesday May 12th at the Birkdale Retirement Living Residence, 611 Farmstead Drive, (Derry and Farmstead).
Our Halton South community meeting will be held in Burlington on Thursday May 28th at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street.
For these meetings we are pleased to invite you for a warm and enjoyable evening with Eric Nagler. Through very personal and heart felt stories and interactive exercises, intermingled with entertainment, Eric will explore his journey of discovering love and Intimacy.
You will learn how it is never too late to keep seeking and exploring love and making connections especially for seniors.
Eric will thoughtfully explore what is love? What is intimacy? and not only how important it is to keep making connections in your senior years, but how to make meaningful connections.
We are sure this will be an enjoyable and thought provoking presentation. All we are asking is to bring and open mind and enjoy the evening.
More about Eric:
Eric was a school teacher’s kid, born in New York 1942 at the height of WWII. He grew up learning that the United States was the saviour of civilization. He spent the turbulent 50s and 60s unlearning, discovering his mistake and advocating, demonstrating and protesting for peace.
He went on so many marches that he began to suspect conspiracies were spread by the shoe industry.
In 1963 Eric Marched through Mississippi with Martin Luther King.
In 1967, his status of Conscientious Objector was denied and he escaped to Canada, only to return a few years later to give himself up and stand trial. In those few years Eric became a well-known personality in the folk music world, performing Community Concerts and opening Canada’s first Folklore Centre, a store dedicated to acoustic music, landlord to the Mariposa Festival.
Returning to Canada after a Kafka-like trial which took him to the doorsteps of the Supreme Court, Eric joined up with Sharon, Lois and Bram and spent ten years as a TV entertainer on Sharon, Lois and Bram’s ‘Elephant Show’ and ‘Eric’s World’
Eric has been very involved in the Human Awareness Institute (HAI) he Interned for the founder Stan Dale, produced HAI workshops in Ontario, and is Certified to lead “Pathways To Intimacy”, Intern Workshops, and Assistant training.
Eric has been engaged in a life-long internal search for self, for connection, and for love. In 1999 he traveled to Bosnia to perform for war-affected families. His experiences there illustrate a coming together of his external and internal life paths.
As an 83 year old man he sees that intimacy and connection are particularly challenged as we age, and fall away even at a time they are perhaps more needed.
As you can see Eric has led an extremely interesting and unusually varied life. Eric would like to invite you to share in some of what he’s picked up along the path of intimacy and love.
Doors will open at both locations at 6.30pm, the program will start at 7.00pm with a few words from our sponsors, a brief welcoming address and an update on CARP and Halton Chapter activities.
Light refreshments, coffee, tea and treats, will be available. At Milton refreshments will be provided by the Birkdale Retirement Residence. We thank the management and staff for their generosity.
There will be a break at the midway point which will allow time to socialize with fellow members and to visit our sponsors.
We will wrap up around 8.45pm in order to be out of our meeting spaces by 9.00pm. This will allow staff time to close up after our meetings have ended.
Our meetings will conclude with a few closing remarks and our 50/50 draw. We encourage you to support this draw as proceeds help defray the costs incurred in putting on our meetings.
We look forward to your support and to sharing these informative evenings with all of our members and friends.
