Please see the latest Crime Prevention bulletin below from Halton Regional Police. These phone scams continue to increase and seniors are particularly vulnerable. Scammers are finding increasingly new ways of convincing us that the call is from a genuine source. Bank Investigator type scams are on the increase and Police are warning everyone to be particularly aware of them.
DON’T BE FOOLED AND HANG UP.
If you hang up to call your bank, try to use a different phone to ensure that the scammer is not able to remain on the line and intercept your call.
If anyone asks for Google Play, i-tunes cards or Bitcoins this should be an immediate RED FLAG!
