CARP Halton Chapter Evening Community Meeting in Burlington Oct 22nd: Update on CARP Local and National Advocacy

CARP Halton Chapter invites you to join us at our evening community meetings in October.  We will be holding two evening meetings, one in Halton North and one in Halton South. For this month only there will be different presentations at these two locations. Please feel free to join us at either or both locations. To avoid confusion this will announce details for our Halton South meeting.

Details for our Halton North meeting are announced separately in the article above.

Our Halton South community meeting will be held in Burlington on Thursday October 22nd at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street.

For this meeting we will have two keynote speakers;

We will be pleased to welcome CARP National President Anthony Quinn. Anthony will update us on CARP National Advocacy issues. We can expect Anthony to address the recent Macleans article, and the plans CARP has to address the major issues this raises

This will be followed by Advocacy Director Bob Elliot who will provide an update on our Halton Chapter Advocacy Campaign for the upcoming municipal elections. All candidates in Halton have been asked:

“If elected, what steps or actions will you take to improve the lives of seniors in your constituency?”

Responses will be on posted this website under “Advocacy Initiatives” and we encourage our members to take these into consideration when deciding on who to vote for. Bob will emphasize the importance of our senior’s demographic as a voting block and how we can have an impact on the actions local politicians take on our behalf.

Doors will open at 6.30pm, the program will start at 7.00pm with a brief welcoming address and a few words from our sponsors.

Light refreshments, coffee, tea and treats, will be available.

There will be a break at the midway point which will allow time to socialize with fellow members and to visit our sponsors.

We will wrap up around 8.45pm in order to be out of our meeting space by 9.00pm. This will allow staff time to close up after our meeting has ended.

Our meeting will conclude with a few closing remarks and our 50/50 draw. We encourage you to support this draw as proceeds help defray the costs incurred in putting on our meetings.

Please join us. We look forward to your support and to sharing this informative evening with all of our members and friends.
