CARP Halton Chapter will be holding two community meetings in May, one in Halton North on May 10th and one in Halton South on May 25th. Our Halton North meeting will be held at the Revera Birkdale Retirement Living Residence at 611 Farmstead (Derry and Farmstead) in Milton. Our Halton South meeting will be held at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street, Burlington.
The theme of our presentation at both locations will be: “Pharmacists and their role in Community Health Care”
Pharmacists play a vital role in community health care. More than just prescriptions pharmacists take a holistic approach to patient care dedicating their practice to the best possible health outcomes for their patients in the communities they serve. The role of the pharmacist is also changing as they can now prescribe medications for the treatment of some of the common minor ailments thus eliminating the need for a visit to your doctor.
We will be pleased to welcome local pharmacist Taylor Lea who will be our speaker at both locations.
Taylor is looking forward to speaking about the profession of pharmacy. Her presentation will outline:
- How to become a Pharmacist
- Types of Pharmacy Practice
- Current scope of practice of a Pharmacist
- Minor ailment prescribing (New as of Jan. 1, 2023)
- Overview of the Ontario Drug Benefits (ODB) Program
Please plan to join us at either location. CARP Halton Chapter believes that the information you will take away from this presentation will be very beneficial for all seniors. Seniors will feel more confident knowing what a Pharmacist can do and how they can work together with other members of their health care team to better their overall health.
We look forward to seeing our members and friends at this important presentation.
