For our Community meetings in January we will focus on CARP and our advocacy initiatives at both the National and local Halton level.
For the National perspective we encourage you to take the opportunity to come and meet our new CARP National President Anthony Quinn. After many years of service at our National office we will be pleased to welcome Anthony to meet our members. In his new role Anthony:
- is excited with the challenges of driving CARP forward as a leading voice for seniors across Canada.
- will share with us his vision for CARP and his key priorities as a national advocacy organization
For the local Halton Chapter perspective our advocacy director Bob Elliot will present:
- a detailed review of the results of our Halton Chapter Advocacy survey on the issues that are of most concern to seniors in Halton.
- share information on his recent meetings with local MPP’s
- discuss how we will continue to advocate for the changes that we feel are required to address the concerns that have been identified.
During both segments of our meeting we will welcome questions and audience participation.
We encourage all of our members and friends to join us for this important and informative evening with our new President.
Our Halton North meeting will be held in Milton on Tuesday January 13th at the Birkdale Retirement Living Residence at 611 Farmstead Drive, (Derry and Farmstead). Our Halton South meeting will be held in Burlington on Thursday January 22nd at the Seniors Centre at 2285 New Street.
Doors will open at both locations at 6.30pm, the program will start at 7.00pm and will wrap up around 8.45pm. We must be out of our meeting spaces by 9.00pm to allow staff time to close up after our meetings have ended
Light refreshments, coffee, tea and treats, will be available. At Milton refreshments will be provided by the Birkdale Retirement Residence. We thank the management and staff for their generosity.
There will be a break at the midway point which will allow time to socialize with fellow members and to visit our sponsors.
Our meetings will conclude with a few closing remarks and our 50/50 draw. We encourage you to support this draw as proceeds help defray the costs incurred in putting on our meetings.
Our meetings are FREE. All are welcome. Please plan to join us at either or both locations. We look forward to your support and are looking forward to sharing these informative evenings with our members and friends.
